From a person who grew up with a hoarder: April 24, 2013
“Collecting Dreams” is an insightful, sweet, sad tale of a family who suffer silently and privately due to the mental illness of one family member. I loved your descriptive way of inviting the reader to imagine themselves in the same situation! The family loves each other despite the unhealthy conditions. It is amazing how one can love, yet not like another person. “Collecting Dreams” is a wonderful book for everyone!”

“Awesome!!!…The entertainment as well as insight to something so close and personal to me was also comforting and liberating. I understand it is fiction; however, there are specific research references that are particularly helpful. I savored and enjoyed the book very much. The writing style is one that speaks to the reader and is very conversational while at the same time weaves the story together from beginning to end. I will certainly recommend it. I have already. Thank you for the research, your courage and sharing.”
A very thoughtful review from a reader: March 29, 2013
“Finished your book yesterday afternoon and I am trying to find the words to tell you how much this story meant to me.
As a child of the 50’s and 60’s and the oldest of three daughters, I related strongly to Kelly and her experience growing up. The strength of her story is that the reader could plug into the narrative any town, any family, any set of circumstances, family dynamic, problems, joys and secrets and see themselves. Your story is so much bigger than just ink and paper…..It makes one think and try to answer the ultimate questions of, “Why do these people behave this way?” “Why did this happen?’ “Why do we all react the way we do?”
The story made me laugh and think and it broke my heart…it gave me hope that families can come to a place where they can have compassion, grace and understanding…and be changed.
“Collecting Dreams” is a story that will stay with the reader long after the last page is read and the cover is closed. What more could you ask from a book and it’s [sic] author?
Congratulatins [sic] Sue! Your book is a triumph! I loved it!
Thank you for writing it!”
